From Childhood Sweethearts to Husband and Wife
This was it. The moment she’d been looking forward to for so many years. Amanda took a deep breath while Rosa, Isa, and Bella straightened the train of her bridal gown. Indeed, she was nervous. He pulse was hammering a million miles a minute, but it was a good nervous. There was no doubt in her mind that she wanted to marry Niels. Rosa pressed the bouquet into Amanda’s hands. Slowly, Amanda took in the detail of the pink roses, and a smile automatically came to her face as she’d remembered the rose Niels had gifted her with. “Ready? Rosa enquired.
“Ready,” Amanda replied with a smile.
“Ready,” Amanda replied with a smile.
Preparing for the beginning of a new life. Niels was waiting at the altar. As he looked through the crowd sitting in the New York cathedral, he could see many familiar faces. His dad and Rico were standing next to him, and in the crowds he could see his younger sisters Zelda and Belie, as well as Amanda’s siblings. He smiled for a moment, even though his stomach protested a little.
He had heard many stories before of girls, of women who had gotten cold feet on the last moment, who decided to call it all off because they didn’t show. His stomach turned around, hoping that would not be the case today. Today he hoped to see Amanda shine, to see her happier than he had ever seen her before. If he managed to put a smile on her face, he would be happy. He took a few deep breaths, thinking of Amanda’s smile. It calmed him, it made clear to him she would be there, for he could impossibly doubt her love.
His dad put a hand on his shoulder: “Relax son, I know this can be tough… She’ll show…”
It made Niels laugh softly to hear these words from his dad, but he nodded after all. He looked at the door of the cathedral, waiting eagerly for the moment his bride would arrive… He was grateful for the people who were here, for the fact they supported him. He knew for sure there were friends to him and Amanda in the cathedral, and he was glad they were there to witness the wedding.

As Amanda heard the intro to the bridal march, she took another deep breath. Isa and Bella ran to open the doors while Rosa held the train of the gown. Amanda stepped into the sanctuary, and though all rose from their seats to honor her march down the aisle, her eyes were focused on the groom.
Another smile spread across her face, her heart swelling with feelings of love. He looked so heart-stoppingly handsome! As Roy’s arm enclosed around hers, she couldn’t help but giggle. She’d been so focused on her Niels that she’d almost forgotten her dad.
Niels awoke from his thoughts as he heard the music. He looked at the entrance only to see Amanda walking in. It robbed him of his breath to see her, how beautiful she looked. A soft sigh escaped him, his belly fluttering with butterflies. She walked towards the altar slowly, and Niels’ heart began to beat faster. He smiled, his eyes fixed on her as the guests threw flowers along the aisle. She looked amazing, that much he knew for sure.
For a moment Amanda was nervous, wondering what she’d do if he refused to give her away. Much to her surprise, she felt him release her. For a brief moment she paused, looking at him, her lips slowly curling into a smile. “Thank you,” she quietly told him.’ Just a few more steps, and she was at the altar, beside her love. “Hi,” she whispered. A loving smile curled around Niels lips before he whispered back: “Hi to you too!”

The minister looked at Niels, smiling as she asked Niels to say his vows. Niels looked at Amanda and begun to talk:
“My beautiful love, ever since we’ve met, I value your love above anything else, and today we’re here to bind ourselves to the other until eternity. Today, I promise you I’ll be yours and yours alone, from now until the end of days. I promise you to be there for you, in happy times and in bad times. When you cry, I will try to make you smile. When you smile, I’ll be sure to tell you so. I promise you I will be good to you, I promise you to be there for you. From this day forth, you will be my wife, my blood, my life... I will keep you safe from harm and I will catch a bullet for you if I have to. Amanda van Loon, I love you!”
After speaking these words, Niels it was Amanda’s turn. Tears of happiness welled up in her eyes, but she held her composure.
“Niels, I’ve been looking forward to this day since forever, it seems. Now that the time has finally come, I can hardly believe it. It’s a dream come true. You’ve been my playmate, my best friend, my confidante, my shoulder to cry on. You’ve been my hero, my protector, my lover, my soul mate. My heart has belonged to you since day one, but today I promise to be eternally bound to you. I promise to support you in all your endeavors, to be your biggest fan, your partner for life. I promise to stand by you in times of sickness and in times of good health—through joy and melancholy. Ti amo, per sempre, mio amore.”
Her vows made Niels smile, looking into her eyes through her veil. They looked at the minister, who looked at Niels:

“Niels van Loon , will you take Amanda Pontremoli to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
Niels smiled after sighing softly, saying loudly: “Yes, I do!” After that, he looked at Amanda, smiling as his eyes met hers.
“Do you, Amanda Pontremoli, take Niels van Loon to be your lawfully wedded husband?” the minister enquired once it was already asked of Niels.
“I do,” she answered without the slightest hesitation. There was not a doubt in her mind.
Niels smiled widely. He took a ring from the pillow and slid it onto Amanda’s finger. Amanda did the same to him.
Then the minister look at him, saying: “You may now kiss the bride!” Niels turned to Amanda and carefully lifted her veil: “Hello my love.” he whispered before gently pressing his lips against hers.
