Never in a million years did Rosa expect to be in this situation; preparing tie the knot with Teun was the last thing she’d thought to be possible, yet today was the big day. For some unknown reason, there were some nerves involved and Rosa wound up opening the window to let in some of the cool Melbournian winter air. At last it was a lovely day outside, Rosa thought a bit absentmindedly.
As she felt a small tugging on her shirt. “Ma! Mama!” A little voice demanded her attention. “Mmmmaaama!” Rosa chuckled and lifted Aubrey onto her lap before the infant was scooped up into her great aunt’s arms. “We will take care of the little flowergirl,” Bella assured. She accepted baby Aubrey, as her great aunt handed her over. Meanwhile, Isa was waiting nearby to put a flower in Aubrey’s hair and get her into her flowergirl dress.
Rosa’s granddaughter Emilia was already dressed, twirling around in her flowing white dress. Amanda kept an eye on her child, smiling at the way Emilia stopped to admire the wedding dress displayed on the wall.
Throughout all of this, all Rosa could do was smile, being surrounded by family. Her matron of honour, Angel, was the one who got her to focus on the task at hand. Getting dressed! She reminded Rosa that it was nearly time, and suddenly Rosa’s heart was in her mouth again. Regardless, she smiled as she was helped into her dress, as others fussed over her hair and makeup and her photographer and designer snapped multiple photographs.
Bouquet in hand, she strolled out of her home and into the backward towards the makeshift aisle. The flora, lanterns and hanging lights looked magical beneath the sunset. As the music began, Rosa silently sent up a prayer to Kobe. For the weather to hold up, for the wedding to run smoothly, for a good life with Teun.

Teun sighed, being alone at his hotel suite. Of course he wasn’t really alone, for Niels and Rico were there with him, helping him prepare. But it still was strange, being without Rosa, and without Aubrey, for a night, and the most of the day. Strange, that’s how it felt to not have the little girl around.
And it was a little unreal, thinking of the fact he and Rosa would get married after this long a time of knowing each other, but it was really happening. He began to think of when he had first met Rosa, and of how well they had gotten along. But a snap of a finger woke him from those thoughts.
Niels stood there, grinning at his father: “Wake up dad, now isn’t the time to dream off…” He laughed softly before looking at Rico, who was getting Teun’s tuxedo out. Teun nodded, looking at Rico while he finished buttoning his shirt. He was grateful for the fact he and Niels were there, to help him and to get rid of the nerves that were building inside of him.

When Teun was ready, he and his groomsmen got into the car and headed for the house Teun and Rosa had bought in Melbourne. As they arrived there, Teun headed straight out into the garden and smiled. It had turned into a beautiful place for a wedding, beautifully decorated and everything you could wish for. Teun walked up the improvised aisle, greeting some people that were there, eventually greeting the minister, Ishtar. After that, Teun was just standing there, smiling like a fool at the fact this was really happening, but on occasion being a bit nervous that everything would go well.
Niels caught his father’s nerves and leaned in to lighten the mood. He put a hand on his father’s shoulder and whispered: “Relax dad, I know this can be tough… She’ll show…” He chuckled, knowing these were the exact words his dad had told him at his wedding, and he noticed it made Teun laugh softly too. Teun smiled at Niels over his shoulder before nodding at Rico. He was ready…

Aubrey appeared more interested in the flowers than in walking at times. Midway, Aubrey spotted her daddy and squealed with delight. At that point, Emilia could no longer hold on to her, and instead, watched as Aubrey ran down the aisle and right into Teun’s arms. Teun smiled and got her, giving her a small kiss before signaling Zelda, who jumped up to collect her little sister. Rosa laughed, and waited until things settled down and Aubrey was safely on Zelda's lap before she began her descent down the aisle.

While everyone was looking at her, her eyes were glued on Teun. He looked absolutely dashing in his tuxedo, and even from the short distance, she could see the love reflected in his eyes. Teun looked at Rosa, his jaw dropping. She looked beautiful, wearing an elegant dress that suited her, and Teun had to resist the urge of running there and kissing her. But he managed, and he just stared at her as she walked down the aisle slowly. He noticed everyone was looking at her with big eyes, and he could understand that, for she was incredibly beautiful.
Once Rosa had finished her slow march to the improvised altar, Teun reached out for her, taking her hand to help her up the last few stairs, looking deeply into her eyes through her veil. “Hi love,” he whispered, “you look more beautiful than I could ever imagine…” His eyes were sparkling as he gave her hand a tiny squeeze. Immediately, Rosa felt complete again. She beamed at him and responded to his whispered words with a, “Please don’t make me cry.”
When it came time for the rings to be exchanged, Teun smiled at Niels. who brought the rings forward. Rosa’s heart pounded. She tried to rehearse her written vows in her mind, but she was nearly swept away by Teun’s vows.

"My dear, sweet Rosa, now we finally stand here to become bound forever, I want to tell you how much I love you. Ever since the day we first met, you’ve been there for me, and I’ve been there for you. Over seventeen years, it has been since we first saw each other, in a hospital, but things only turned for the best. You’re such an amazing woman, sweet, caring, a great mother... I love every little aspect of you, and even should some sides of you pop up that aren’t as nice as the others, our love will be strong enough to overcome them. Rosa, you’re the woman I want to grow old with, with whom I want to spend my days, now until forever. I will be there when you need me, for comfort, for support, to talk, to love. I will take care of you, of you and our little Aubrey, for as long as I live, or for as long as you want me. You are the light in the darkest night, the brightest star there is, and just know, Rosa Rosewell, that I love you..."
After that, he slid the ring onto Rosa’s finger, smiling at her. Rosa wanted to jump into his arms and declare them officially wedded already, but she remained collected. In the end, she spoke from the heart.
"Teun, my love, we started off as friends, 17 years ago, and today we stand here before our loved ones to pledge a lifetime together. Years ago, I would’ve never dreamt of this moment, but I believe this was meant to be. I love you with every sinew of my being, with all of my heart and soul. So today, I take you as my husband, my rock, my eternal flame. I promise to cherish you like the treasure you are, to stand by you in good times and in bad times. I vow to keep our passion alive and our flame burning eternally."
Rosa's vows made Teun melt. As she slid the ring onto his finger, he lightly pressed his forehead against hers. They barely awaited the moment that Ishar said "you may now kiss the bride." Teun removed Rosa's veil slowly and kissed her gently. Now, they were together, and he wanted this to last.
And at that moment, Rosa knew it was meant to be.
